Following on from their success at last years awards, when they won the Best New Business and Best Small Business Awards, Spaceover Group, a provider of innovative modern construction processes and building systems is still going from strength to strength.
This year they have also won the UK Building Awards “Manufacturer of the Year” title and have become the first company to be accredited with a new Standard for Innovative Forms of Dwelling Construction (LPS 2020).
The two Joint Managing directors, Tony Fox and Steven Barrett, went to school together and met again in 2001 through the Friends Re-united web site. They had followed similar careers and came up with the idea of joining forces to “re-think” the way in which housing is provided.
Spaceover uses modular, volumetric Systems that enable parts of a building to be built off-site and fitted out with interiors before being delivered to site and erected in modules to form complete buildings that can be many storeys high.
They have also been able to substantially improve quality, halve construction time and reduce out-turn costs. This has been particularly demonstrated in the affordable housing sector where Spaceover has now been appointed to deliver tens of millions of pounds worth of housing over the coming years.
Having started from scratch, the management team of Tony Fox and Steven Barrett have, together with their staff, grown Spaceover into a thriving multi-million pound business that is now a leader in its sector, attracting media interest and business proposals from far a field.
